MATTHEW MACLEAN
Mental Health Strategist
Matthew MacLean is the Mental Health Strategist at the University of New Brunswick. Matthew promotes social connectedness, positive mental wellbeing and resilience using evidence-based social-psychological interventions across campus.
BHAVYA PRATAP MALHOTRA
International Student
Bhavya Pratap Malhotra is a second year International Student from India, pursuing a dual major in Economics and English from the Business faculty. As he noticed much neglect towards mental health awareness and the stigma related to it, Bhavya became interested to advocate for developing the methods to combat mental health diseases, especially amongst the International Students that are away from home and trying their best to adjust to new surroundings. By becoming a Jack Panelist, Bhavya would love to share his experiences, as well as some methods that would seem helpful and valuable to others.
NICK DEMPSEY
Registered Nurse
Nick is Registered Nurse, who works in the fields of acute psychiatry and physical rehabilitation. He has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Brunswick. In his spare time, you will find Nick on a tennis court or at the gym. Nick is passionate about healthcare reform, and aspires to pursue further education in health care quality and business administration.
ANDREA WOLF
Outreach Worker at Liberty Lane
Andrea Wolf majored in Criminology at St. Thomas University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Interdisciplinary Honours) degree. She also received a Master of Arts degree in Sociology at the University of New Brunswick after completing her thesis on “Fighting” Revictimization: The Discursive Resistance of Sexual Assault Complainants. Since 2011, she has been employed as a Family Violence Prevention Outreach Worker at Liberty Lane – a non-profit organization that provides services to folks in the greater Fredericton area who have been affected by Domestic / Intimate Partner Violence. Her education and experience has taught her a great deal about how trauma can impact mental health and how survivors can be helped along their path to healing.
LISA O’BLENIS
Executive Director of CHIMO
Lisa O’Blenis is the Executive Director of Chimo Helpline and has been with the organization for the past 4 years. She takes pride in the services they provide to the province. She completed her BA at St Thomas University and her certificate in Non-Profit Management at Mount Royal University. Lisa spent many years living in Calgary working in the non-profit sector until the undeniable calls of the Bay of Fundy brought her home. She enjoys spending her time volunteering as Board President for Adult Literacy Fredericton, advocating for improved mental health care and suicide safer communities.
